Olivia Sara Karolina (Olivia Sarah Carolina) Christianson was born on 16 May 1893 in Big Stone Township, Big Stone County, Minnesota. She was the first of eight children born to Johannes Gustav "John" and his Brita Stina "Betsy (Engberg) Christianson.Her father homesteaded in Roseland Township, Burke County, North Dakota and on 15 March 1903 she arrived in Roseland Township at her uncle Swan Engberg's homestead. The family stayed there until becoming established on their homestead. She confirmed her Christian faith on December 6, 1908 at the Elmdale Swedish Lutheran Church in Niobe. Olivia married Johan Edwin "Ed" Johnson on June 4, 1913, at Elmdale Lutheran Church. They made their home in Niobe, where Ed was a blacksmith and mechanic. He passed away on 31 May 1968, and she continued to live in Niobe in her home until 1972 when she entered the Trinity Nursing Home in Minot. She was a member of Elmdale Lutheran Church joining at the time of her confirmation in 1908. She was a member of the Elmdale Lutheran Church Ladies Aid and involved in the activities of the church. She taught Sunday School for a number of years and also served as Sunday School Superintendent. Olivia died at Minot, Ward County, North Dakota on 3 August 1980. Her funeral was held on 6th of August from the Elmdale Lutheran Church in Niobe and interment was in the Elmdale Swedish Lutheran Cemetery, Elmdale Township, Ward County, North Dakota.Funeral services are being held at 2 o'clock this fternoon, August 6, from Elmdale Lutheran Church, Niobe, for Mrs.Olivia Johnson, 87, who died Sunday at the Trinity Nursing Home at Minot, where she had been a resident since 1972.Rev. Arlyn Norris will officiate at the service. llene Mickelsen will be organist and Mrs. Donald Burton, vocalist.Interment will be made in Elmdale Cemetery.Pallbearers will be Clarence Albertson, Arnold Mickelsen, Ruben Olson, Chester Fleckten, Gustave Ekberg and ArthurEkstrom.Olivia Christianson was born May 16, 1893, in Big Stone County, in Minnesota and came to this area with her parents in 1904, when they homesteaded in Roseland Township, Burke County. She married Johan Edwin Johnson on June 4, 1913, atElmdale Lutheran Church. They were the first couple to be married in that church. They made their home in Niobe, where Mr. Johnson was a blacksmith and mechanic. He passed away in 1968, and she continued to live in Niobe until entering Trinity Nursing Home in 1972.She was a member of Elmdale Lutheran Church and of the Elmdale Lutheran Church Women. She also taught SundaySchool for a number of years and also served as Sunday School Superintendent.She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Strain of Kenmare; two brothers, Edward Christianson of Minot and Alfred Christianson of Kenmare; eight grand children and several great-grandchildren.From the KENMARE NEWS, Kenmare, ND

Gustav Arvid Christianson was born December 11, 1901 in his parent's home in Big Stone Township, Big Stone County, Minnesota. He was the fifth of eight children born to Brita Stina "Betsy" Engberg and her husband Johannes Gustav "John" Christianson, immigrants from Sweden. He was baptized in a Lutheran Church in Minnesota. His parents moved to Roseland Township, Burke County, North Dakota to homestead in 1903. He attended the Elmdale Swedish Lutheran Church with his parents and siblings. He made his confirmation of Christian faith before the congregation on September 15, 1918. As a child, Arvid attended the Big Springs country school west of their farm. He lived in his parental home and farmed in Roseland Township his entire life. First farming with his father and then with his brothers Leonard and Alfred. He retired from farming and due to health reasons entered the Lutheran Homes (Trinity Nursing Home) in Minot, ND in August of 1966 where he continued to reside the remained of his life. Arvid died at the Trinity Hospital in Minot on February 23, 1968. Funeral services were held in the Elmdale Lutheran Church in Niobe, ND on February 27. Linnea Esther Emelia Christianson was born October 21, 1904 on her parents homestead in Roseland Township, Burke County, ND. She was the sixth of eight children born to John (Johannes Gustav) and Betsy (Brita Stina Engberg) Christianson. She was baptized in the newly organized Elmdale Swedish Lutheran Congregation in 1904 and confirmed her Christian faith before the same congregation on September 15, 1918. She attend the Big Springs County school west of her parents homestead. Linnea attended high school in Kenmare and graduated in the class of 1924. She went on to receive her teaching certificate, teaching country schools in Elmdale and Kandiyohi township school districts. On October 1, 1932 she married Frans Borjeson in Minot, ND. Frans and Linnea made their home in Montana on his homestead. The "Dirty 30's" brought drought and dust storms in Montana and were the deciding factors for them to return to the Niobe, ND vicinity in June of 1937. They rented the Elmer Johnson farm in Bowbells Township, Burke County, ND for a couple years and later bought the property where they made their home. They farmed until his retirement. Frans and Linnea had three children, Arliss, Franklin and Arlene.They were members of the Elmdale Swedish Lutheran Church in Niobe and Linnea was an active member serving the congregation in whatever way she could. She taught Sunday School for several years and was involved with the Ladies Aid and women's Bible Study.Frans died October 27, 1973 at their home in Bowbells Township and in 1976, she moved to the Kenmare Baptist Home. Linnea died on April 22, 1977 in Kenmare, ND. Funeral services were held on April 25, from the Elmdale Lutheran Church in Niobe. Leonard Clarence Christianson was born September 7, 1907 in his parent's home in Roseland Township, Burke County, North Dakota. This was part of Imperial Ward County at the time of his birth. He was the seventh of eight children born to Brita Stina "Betsy" Engberg and her husband Johannes Gustav "John" Christianson, immigrants from Sweden. He was baptized on November 28, 1907 at the newly built Elmdale Swedish Lutheran Church in Niobe. He attended the Elmdale Lutheran Church with his parents and siblings and made his confirmation of Christian faith before the congregation on June 3, 1923. Leonard and his siblings attended the Big Springs country school west of their homestead. Leonard went on to high school in Kenmare. He boarded with families in Kenmare while attending high school, graduating in the Class of 1925. He then lived in his parental home and farmed in Roseland Township. First farming with his father and then with his brothers Alfred and Arvid. He served on the Elmdale Lutheran Church Board and served as Roseland township clerk. He entered the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Mohall, Renville County, ND in February 1980. He died here on April 9, 1980. Funeral services were held in the Elmdale Lutheran Church in Niobe, ND on April 11th. Alfred Arnold Christianson was born February 26, 1911 on his parent's homestead in Roseland Township, Burke County, North Dakota. He was the youngest of eight children born to Brita Stina "Betsy" Engberg and her husband Johannes Gustav "John" Christianson, immigrants from Sweden. He was baptized at the Elmdale Swedish Lutheran Church in Niobe, ND on July 16, 1911. He attended that church with his parents and before the congregation confirmed his Christian faith on June 3, 1928. Alfred attended country school as a child. He lived in his parental home and farmed in Roseland Township until April 15, 1942 when he began his service in the United States Army, during World War II. He served as a truck driver. Alfred was honorably discharged from the Army on November 30, 1945. He returned to the family farm where he farmed with his brothers Leonard and Arvid. Alfred obtained the blacksmith tools and equipment from Ed Johnson when he discontinue his blacksmith shop in Niobe. Alfred had a blacksmith shop at the family farm. Alfred was a life long member of the Elmdale Lutheran Church. He was a proud veteran and was a member of the Heidenberg-Petersen American Legion Post at Kenmare. He was also a member of the Farmers Union. Alfred retired from active farming in 1979 but continued to live on the Christianson homestead. He never married. In 1980 he entered the Good Samaritan in Mohall, ND. After a few years he returned home to the farm. In January 1988, Alfred entered the Kenmare Baptist Home. He made his home there until moving to the Kenmare Skilled Care unit where he died on August 13, 1996. Funeral services were held in the Elmdale Lutheran Church in Niobe, ND on August 16. He was buried in the Christianson plot in the Elmdale Swedish Lutheran Cemetery, Elmdale Township, Ward County, ND. Källa: John Mogren i Find A Grave
