Leonard Clarence Christianson was born September 7, 1907 in his parent's home in Roseland Township, Burke County, North Dakota. This was part of Imperial Ward County at the time of his birth. He was the seventh of eight children born to Brita Stina "Betsy" Engberg and her husband Johannes Gustav "John" Christianson, immigrants from Sweden. He was baptized on November 28, 1907 at the newly built Elmdale Swedish Lutheran Church in Niobe. He attended the Elmdale Lutheran Church with his parents and siblings and made his confirmation of Christian faith before the congregation on June 3, 1923. Leonard and his siblings attended the Big Springs country school west of their homestead. Leonard went on to high school in Kenmare. He boarded with families in Kenmare while attending high school, graduating in the Class of 1925. He then lived in his parental home and farmed in Roseland Township. First farming with his father and then with his brothers Alfred and Arvid. He served on the Elmdale Lutheran Church Board and served as Roseland township clerk. He entered the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Mohall, Renville County, ND in February 1980. He died here on April 9, 1980. Funeral services were held in the Elmdale Lutheran Church in Niobe, ND on April 11th. He was buried in the Christianson plot in the Elmdale Swedish Lutheran Cemetery, Elmdale Township, Ward County, North Dakota. Källa: John Mogren i Find A Grave
