Olivia Sara Karolina (Olivia Sarah Carolina) Christianson was born on 16 May 1893 in Big Stone Township, Big Stone County, Minnesota. She was the first of eight children born to Johannes Gustav "John" and his Brita Stina "Betsy (Engberg) Christianson.Her father homesteaded in Roseland Township, Burke County, North Dakota and on 15 March 1903 she arrived in Roseland Township at her uncle Swan Engberg's homestead. The family stayed there until becoming established on their homestead. She confirmed her Christian faith on December 6, 1908 at the Elmdale Swedish Lutheran Church in Niobe. Olivia married Johan Edwin "Ed" Johnson on June 4, 1913, at Elmdale Lutheran Church. They made their home in Niobe, where Ed was a blacksmith and mechanic. He passed away on 31 May 1968, and she continued to live in Niobe in her home until 1972 when she entered the Trinity Nursing Home in Minot. She was a member of Elmdale Lutheran Church joining at the time of her confirmation in 1908. She was a member of the Elmdale Lutheran Church Ladies Aid and involved in the activities of the church. She taught Sunday School for a number of years and also served as Sunday School Superintendent. Olivia died at Minot, Ward County, North Dakota on 3 August 1980. Her funeral was held on 6th of August from the Elmdale Lutheran Church in Niobe and interment was in the Elmdale Swedish Lutheran Cemetery, Elmdale Township, Ward County, North Dakota.Funeral services are being held at 2 o'clock this fternoon, August 6, from Elmdale Lutheran Church, Niobe, for Mrs.Olivia Johnson, 87, who died Sunday at the Trinity Nursing Home at Minot, where she had been a resident since 1972.Rev. Arlyn Norris will officiate at the service. llene Mickelsen will be organist and Mrs. Donald Burton, vocalist.Interment will be made in Elmdale Cemetery.Pallbearers will be Clarence Albertson, Arnold Mickelsen, Ruben Olson, Chester Fleckten, Gustave Ekberg and ArthurEkstrom.Olivia Christianson was born May 16, 1893, in Big Stone County, in Minnesota and came to this area with her parents in 1904, when they homesteaded in Roseland Township, Burke County. She married Johan Edwin Johnson on June 4, 1913, atElmdale Lutheran Church. They were the first couple to be married in that church. They made their home in Niobe, where Mr. Johnson was a blacksmith and mechanic. He passed away in 1968, and she continued to live in Niobe until entering Trinity Nursing Home in 1972.She was a member of Elmdale Lutheran Church and of the Elmdale Lutheran Church Women.
