Kenneth Telander, of Mora, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the Heritage of Foley. He was 85 years old.PRIVATE GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.Kenneth Wayne Telander, of Mora, died on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Heritage of Foley Nursing Center. He was 85 years old. The son of John and Evelyn (Ramgren) Telander, he was born November 11, 1932, in Mora. As a child, he attended country school through the eighth grade. As a young man he pitched for the Quamba baseball team which fostered a long-lasting passion for baseball — particularly the Minnesota “Twinkies.” When he was young, he worked at the family sawmill, then as a drywaller in the Twin Cities before becoming self employed as a general contractor. He and his family became locally known to perform high quality work. He was drafted by the United States Army and was stationed in Austria as a radio man during the Korean War from 1954-1955. When his service ended, he was united in marriage to Gloria “Mitzi” Hendershot on June 11, 1955, at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Mora. Together they raised four daughters: Debbie, Sheri, Lori and Holly who all lived in the home he built in Knife Lake Township. He enjoyed logging, playing with his skidder and taking care of his home and property. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed hunting on the Jones farm, enjoyed many camping and fishing trips, particularly the annual fishing trip to Reed Lake in Manitoba Canada with his siblings, nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He loved his grandchildren, whom he taught how to fix things, tested with riddles and brain games, and coaxed into tasting foods he knew would make their faces pucker. After Mitzi’s death in 1992, he met Dorothy Carroll, who for over 20 years provided him with hot meals, warm laughter and loving companionship until his death. Throughout his life, Kenneth lived with a positive outlook. He enjoyed challenges and puzzles. If anything ever went awry, he found the solution was heart-felt laughter. A private family interment was held at the Oakwood Cemetery in Mora with Rev. Dean Oelfke officiating. Military Honors were provided by the Mora American Legion Post 201. Källa: Find A Grave.
